Experience
I worked as a tutor at Stoke Education in Nashville, TN, for three years, in which I prepared students for the PSAT, SAT, and ACT. My students made an average gain of 3-5 points, some as high as 8-10 points. I am a superlative professional tutor. In addition, I have seven years of high school English teaching experience teaching English 9 through AP English, both regular and honors at all levels. I also taught English electives such as creative writing and journalism. I completed my PhD in Education at Vanderbilt, where I have taken extensive coursework in theories of learning and teaching and am up to date on the best research on teaching methods. I have also taken four graduate courses in advanced statistics. For 2.5 years, I was Dean of Students at a high school, so I learned how to work with all types of students and I truly believe all students can learn and succeed, even those others may find too difficult. Though I am an experienced teacher and educator, I firmly believe my best asset is my ENTHUSIASM! I love working with students and I enjoy preparing customized lessons for them. Hobbies
My #1 interest is being the best dad I can be to my two little daughters and my son. I'm lucky that after working with hundreds of students in my teaching career, I have three kids of my own! Besides that, I enjoy reading literature, outdoor adventures like hiking and rock climbing, and volunteering.
