Anna G.
Private tutor in Cleveland Heights, OH
Education
Senior, Cleveland Institute of Music majoring in Violin Performance and minor in Vocal Performance (includes public speaking skills), however, due to the development of arthritis, I am considering transferring to a university in the area with a Music Therapy Program. After all, my favorite subjects are music, music theory, psychology, and teaching / advising young students and their families.
Experience
Currently an adjunct faculty member at Tri-C Community College where I teach at The Orchestra Program (TOP), have taught music theory, small ensembles (chamber music), had the honor of being a 2013 Teaching Violin Fellow at Interlochen Arts Academy (Interlochen, MI), and now would like to shift into the field of Music Therapy, so have taken multiple Psychology classes at Case Western Reserve University.

Hobbies
I believe that the best asset a person can have have, other than the capacity to love and show compassion to others, is the ability teach themselves. Regardless of the subject at hand, we need to allow them to figure out how they personally learn, and that it is completely fine that different kids learn differently). That way, they can have the confidence to say, "I don't understand; could we try this a different way?" and learn what works for them, then they can learn how to feed any sort of information into their brain. By doing this, we not only give the student the chance for a successful and positive academic career, but we give them the opportunity to live life mindfully, always learning and growing throughout the rest of their days. I find that by using a fun activity like music, we can "figure out" their learning style in a less intimidating manner, but I have experiencing teaching in more traditional classrooms as well. My #1 goal is to work with the parent and student to find a balanced approach to keep the student motivated and confident toward reaching their maximum potential.
